We've been looking at the invitations of Jesus and today we're gonna be wrapping up that series. John, chapter seven, verses 37 to 39. I'm gonna read just these verses and once I'm done reading, I'm gonna say, this is the word of the Lord in which you respond, thanks be to God. So here we go. John, chapter seven, verse 37 to 39. And it reads like this.
On the last and the greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood up and called out in a loud voice, if anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink.
For whoever believes in me, as the scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.
He was speaking about the Spirit, whom those who would believe in him would later receive. For the Spirit had not been given because Jesus had not been glorified. This is the word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. Will you bow your heads?
[00:04:13] Speaker B: Let's pray.
[00:04:14] Speaker A: Jesus Christ, you are our living hope.
You are the source of hope.
You are the source of all, and you are above all and in all.
And we come today ready to receive from the one who extends through his grace and his mercy.
We are here today ready to receive all of your truth, all of your wisdom, all of conviction, so that we can walk out different than how we came in.
We. We can walk out with clarity that you are the Lord above all.
And in and through you, Lord, we find all that we need in our lives.
The scriptures are true that you are our shepherd and we shall not want.
So I pray that Lord, that. That that very passage would become a reality in our hearts that we would know you as the source, but our.
[00:05:11] Speaker B: But we would experience you as one who was sufficient as well.
[00:05:16] Speaker A: Bless every person in this room, no matter where they are, no matter their struggles, no matter their background, no matter the things that they brought in. I pray that they cast it upon
[00:05:28] Speaker B: you and experience your care for them because you care for them. So bless them, I pray.
[00:05:35] Speaker A: Help them, I pray. It's in Jesus. Wonderful name is who we pray. Amen. Amen and Amen.
Once again, so thankful to have you guys here. We're gonna be wrapping up this sermon series, starting a brand new one next week. We're gonna be talking about prayer. We're gonna be doing a short little series about prayer beginning next week. But today we're gonna be wrapping up the series, invited. And we're in John chapter seven. I'm excited for this particular passage, but I've been excited for these last several weeks because through these invitations that we see, we. We're seeing again the consistent theme that's not just for us to memorize, but for us to truly take in these invitations, they reveal to us who Jesus is, but also we've been saying week by week who we are. They reveal who we are. Or another way that I should say it, these invitations reveal what we need.
Does that make sense? These invitations, they reveal our great needs, right? And then also they reveal just the
[00:06:42] Speaker B: life that Christ is calling us into.
[00:06:46] Speaker A: They reveal who Christ is, what we need, and what Christ is inviting us into. And we find ourselves in John chapter 7 and verses 37 to 39. But before I break down this passage, this past weekend, our boys, we got them some brand new toys.
And, you know, they filled up their.
Their chore chart is what we have for them. You know, these suckers gotta learn some skills now so they can't just run around and just, you know, be boys. They gotta learn some skills. And so they got some new toys. And, man, they were excited for those toys. And watching them play with them was amazing. I mean, just the joy that came from them and how happy they were. And, you know, every time you get
[00:07:29] Speaker B: your kids something, they always say something
[00:07:30] Speaker A: like, thank you, mom, thank you, dad. And it just melts your heart and you just feel so good inside. And, you know, they're enjoying it for the moment, but before you know it, these suckers in the same day, they got new toys.
These suckers in the same day are already talking about some new toys.
And I'm like, what?
Wait a minute, I just dropped over a hundred dollars, like, on this, and now you're already talking about me spending another hundred dollars. We gonna go to Dollar General, okay?
Before. You know what I'm saying. Hold on, wait a second. What are we doing here? Right? Right now?
The toys weren't bad, right? The toys that they had. The toys weren't bad. The joy was real.
The problem was it didn't last, right? The problem was it didn't last. It gave him something in the moment, right? But then, of course, they're looking for what's next.
They're looking for what's next, and that's just not something that exists in children.
We all can be honest and we all can agree that's something that exists in all of us.
That's a reality we experience almost all the time, right? When we get the thing we hope would satisfy us, when we get the thing we would hope would make us happy, when we get that relationship, when we get the raise, when we get the recognition, when we get the house, when we get the achievement, whatever it may be, our hope is that it's going to feel something. We've been longing to give us happiness and a sense of living and whatnot. But before you know it, it does for a short time. But again, before you know it, those feelings dissolve.
[00:09:31] Speaker B: They fade.
They fade. And then we ask, what's next?
Or how do I get that feeling again and again and again, Right?
[00:09:45] Speaker A: Because I want you to know this. Within every human soul, no matter who you are, no matter where you are in life, within every human soul there is an innate restlessness, a longing for something that truly brings us satisfaction. Now, I want you to understand this. Theologically, that's not something we all share
[00:10:08] Speaker B: that is connected to how we were created.
[00:10:12] Speaker A: We were created for we were created by a Creator who created us to find and to experience and to know
[00:10:27] Speaker B: a life of satisfaction.
[00:10:29] Speaker A: The problem is. The problem is, is when we start to seek created things to fill what
[00:10:35] Speaker B: only the Creator can do, when we
[00:10:39] Speaker A: ask temporary things, temporary things to give
[00:10:43] Speaker B: us lasting satisfaction, we find ourselves unsatisfactory, satisfied.
We find ourselves always searching.
We find ourselves constantly unhappy.
We find ourselves constantly discontent.
We find ourselves constantly bothered. We find ourselves constantly irritated.
And that reveals the void that exists in many of us. And here's what Jesus invitation will extend to today. Jesus invites the unsatisfied soul to find life and satisfaction in him.
[00:11:25] Speaker A: That's what this text is going to take us to. The text is going to point to the one whom seems to.
They seem to fall short in the category of man.
They're feeling this sense of.
They're losing the sense of contentment or joy or peace or a sense of satisfaction in their life. Jesus says that individual he invites to
[00:11:52] Speaker B: come and to find what they've been striving for, what they've been searching for, what they've been looking for.
And he says, come, and we find
[00:12:07] Speaker A: ourselves in John, chapter seven. John is one of the most powerful gospels. Now, all the four of them are powerful, but this one man, this one just hits home, just hits different. It's just. It's amazing the way John, the writer of this gospel, presents Jesus in the manner that he does throughout his writings and we find ourselves in John chapter seven. And it picks up like this. It says this, verse 37, on the last and the greatest day of the feast. Now, let's stop there for a second to give you a little bit of
[00:12:41] Speaker B: context, because this matters.
[00:12:42] Speaker A: This. If you were a Jew during these times, this was known as the Feast of Tabernacles or the Feast of Booths, right? I'm not going to give you a long history lesson, but just know this was a massive, massive time of celebration. When Jews, when they party, they party
[00:13:02] Speaker B: for like a week straight, right?
[00:13:05] Speaker A: Can you imagine? I get exhausted after two hours.
Can you imagine partying seven, eight days in a row? Now, they weren't just randomly celebrating. They were celebrating what happened throughout their history. In Exodus 17, we get the story where God fulfilled. I'm sorry, God was faithful to provide Israel when they were wandering in the wilderness after leaving Egypt, how God provided for Israel.
[00:13:34] Speaker B: Water.
[00:13:37] Speaker A: Going to get the theme in a little bit.
[00:13:39] Speaker B: Water.
[00:13:40] Speaker A: It's the theme where. Sorry, it's the narrative where Moses strikes the rock.
Water comes because they had no water.
[00:13:51] Speaker B: But God provided water, right?
[00:13:54] Speaker A: And God provided water. So this celebration, it was a time to remember that. But also within the celebration, they did many things. Not only was there just food and gathering and song and whatnot, there was rituals behind it. One of the rituals was the priest during the time they would go and they would go and get a picture of water and they would use it as a symbol to again, point back
[00:14:19] Speaker B: to what God did previously. But it's interesting.
[00:14:23] Speaker A: Jesus.
Jesus does something fascinating in the middle
[00:14:27] Speaker B: of the celebration, Jesus says, yeah, that
[00:14:31] Speaker A: water represents something that lives inside each
[00:14:34] Speaker B: and every person, that people are thirsty.
[00:14:41] Speaker A: Now, when he says thirst, he's not talking about a physical thirst, even though we all get thirsty and we all like to have our beverage of choice whenever those moments of dehydration shows up and whatnot. But he's talking about more of a spiritual thirst.
A spiritual thirst. And Jesus looks at this ritual and looks at this moment, looks at this
[00:15:06] Speaker B: celebration, and what does he do? He sees thirsty people.
He sees thirsty people. Now, I want to take the time and I want to take a step back, and I want you to see the heart of God in this passage.
Jesus looks at these people even during this joyous celebration. You know what Jesus knows? Jesus knows, as happy people are right now?
This.
This celebration, it can't give them what their soul is desiring.
It can't fully give them what their soul is actually longing for. And he says, these are the people that are thirsty.
[00:15:49] Speaker A: And what I love about this passage and what I love about this is that Jesus reveals the heart of God.
God sees thirsty people.
He sees people like you and I searching everywhere, pursuing everything to fill the very needs of our soul. You know what I love about this passage? You know what I love about this passage?
This passage reminds us even as we're searching for things apart from God, God
[00:16:24] Speaker B: does not remain distant, indifferent towards us, but rather he calls us.
He says, you who are thirsty, I see you're thirsty.
I know you're thirsty.
[00:16:40] Speaker A: I know there is something within you
[00:16:42] Speaker B: that is just unsatisfied, that is irritated, that is bothered.
[00:16:48] Speaker A: And guess what? God doesn't say, well, it's your fault.
Well, hey, if you wouldn't have gone back to that relationship, hey, if you would have just left that and stopped doing that a long time ago.
No, God doesn't stand distant or indifferent to your need.
[00:17:09] Speaker B: No, God actually extends himself toward the needs that you have in your life.
He extends himself towards that.
[00:17:19] Speaker A: Now he does that not because of
[00:17:20] Speaker B: what he lacks from us. No, God is sufficient.
[00:17:24] Speaker A: God has all that he needs.
[00:17:26] Speaker B: He needs nothing from anyone.
No one.
[00:17:31] Speaker A: He doesn't call because of something he lacks from us.
[00:17:35] Speaker B: He calls us because of what we lack. Apart from him.
Apart from him.
Jesus, the voice, messenger, God himself.
He looks to the person and he sees them thirsty.
[00:17:54] Speaker A: And you know what he says?
[00:17:56] Speaker B: Come to me.
He's not silent to your needs, but rather Jesus reveals to us that God graciously offers the soul, the life only he can give out of his grace and mercy.
Out of his grace and mercy. You know what God sees? God sees the person who is constantly feeling defeated.
God sees the person who constantly feels empty.
God sees the person that constantly feels weighed down.
He sees them. But when you want to know, God doesn't just observe them.
God calls and draws near to them.
The most beautiful thing you can understand about God, that he's not indifferent, but rather he's a father who wants to give to us what our souls desperately need.
He stands ready for that. First, don't you ever think that your life is so jacked up to where the Father has no concern over you, that the Father has no grace for you, but rather he stands ready to give to you what you need. Jesus reveals to us the heart of God in this passage.
[00:19:23] Speaker A: He sees thirsty people. He sees these people celebrating and having all this stuff. Jesus isn't trying to be a party pooper.
Jesus isn't trying to say, hey, listen, you know, you all are wasting Your time? No, but Jesus is trying to say, hey, at the end of the day, what is happening cannot truly give the
[00:19:41] Speaker B: happiness to the soul that you all are here for.
And he says this. He says, if anyone is thirsty.
If anyone is thirsty.
[00:19:55] Speaker A: Now, spiritual thirst, it draws out what are the most basic needs of the human body and what's the most basic need? What are one of the most basic needs of the human body is our need for water, right? We need water.
We can go through. We can go without a lot of things, right? We can go. For me, I can go without Instagram, right?
Social media, I can go without a Chipotle, even though I don't like to admit that I can go without a lot of things. We can go without a lot of things.
But this imagery or this language that Jesus is using is meant to point to us. The reality that there's one thing that humans need is water.
You ever been dehydrated before, right?
You ever been so dehydrated or you ever been so tired, or you ever get a headache, or you ever had something and the first thing that pops in your mind is, I just need water?
Because the body is communicating to you that it's longing for something to give aid to what it's desperately seeking for.
And just as the human, or just as people cannot live without water, right? Just as we cannot survive, Let me say that word. That's a much better word. Just as humans cannot survive without water,
[00:21:30] Speaker B: apart from God, the human life cannot be sustained.
[00:21:37] Speaker A: That's what Jesus is trying to connect with this because the soul cannot possess true life apart from God. And Jesus says to the thirsty, to the one who was unsatisfied, to the one who was bothered, to the one who was weighed down, to the one who feels they have lost sense of everything in their life, what Jesus is doing here, he's not offering an invitation to upgrade your life or to improve your life. No. Jesus, by saying, using the language that he's using in this passage, is saying,
[00:22:15] Speaker B: I am essential to your life.
Because Jesus is essential to life itself.
Jesus is essential to life itself.
[00:22:31] Speaker A: See, here's the one thing about life. Life has a way of exposing what
[00:22:37] Speaker B: our souls thirst for, right?
[00:22:40] Speaker A: Life has a way of exposing what our souls thirst for. For instance, when you face disappointment, which we all have faced at some time and time before in our lives, we discover that in the midst of that disappointment, our longing for hope and security, when we fail, right, when we have failure, that shows up in our lives, we discover that deep down inside our Souls long for some sort of redemption or forgiveness or whatever it may be.
When we have our moments where we experience loss, we discover how deeply we long for healing and restoration. And what Jesus is saying, he's not denying those needs are real, but he's revealing that beneath those needs is a
[00:23:28] Speaker B: deeper need that only he can satisfy,
[00:23:33] Speaker A: that only he can satisfy. Because, listen, desires itself, they're not bad necessarily. The desire for hope, that's great, right? The desire for peace in one's life, that's great. The desire for security, the desire for redemption, all of that stuff, joy, desires itself, they're not necessarily bad. The problem, as I said before, is the problem comes when we ask for something apart from God to satisfy a longing that God ultimately can only fulfill.
[00:24:11] Speaker B: Because apart from God, even good desires can become disordered, can become disordered.
Even good things we can disorder in our lives, right?
[00:24:26] Speaker A: For instance, because we desire security, we try to find it in money or relationships. Because we desire a sense of identity or value or worth, we try to gain it by impressing others. We desire peace, but we try to create it by maybe even just controlling the outcome or controlling the situation or controlling others within our lives. And what Jesus is, is doing in
[00:24:53] Speaker B: this passage here, he is trying to
[00:24:56] Speaker A: remind us once again those desires, the things that we desire for, that beneath
[00:25:02] Speaker B: all of them is a deeper need that only he can satisfy, that only Christ can give to us.
[00:25:13] Speaker A: And in the middle of the celebration,
[00:25:15] Speaker B: what does Jesus do?
[00:25:17] Speaker A: The Bible says that Jesus shouted.
He spoke aloud, come to me, all who are thirsty.
Come to me. Come all who thirst.
That's what he says. Come to me, all who thirst. And what is Jesus doing in the middle of this celebration, in the middle of all the things that are going on? Again, the scriptures say it was the last and greatest day. This celebration would have been like seven to eight days. So we don't know if this would have been on the seventh day or the eighth day or whatnot. All we know is that Jesus issues this invitation, adoring all of what's happening.
[00:25:58] Speaker B: And what is Jesus doing? He is redirecting their attention.
[00:26:04] Speaker A: Not because the celebration is wrong, but because the imagery of what the celebration
[00:26:13] Speaker B: purpose pointed beyond itself to something greater.
Jesus, he addresses their thirst, but now redirects thirsty people to him, to him.
[00:26:30] Speaker A: You know, sometimes, friends, I need Jesus to give me that reminder day in and day out.
[00:26:36] Speaker B: Why?
[00:26:37] Speaker A: Because naturally, I am prone to build
[00:26:40] Speaker B: my life around lesser things, things I'm
[00:26:44] Speaker A: prone to build my life around lesser things, not things that aren't Good, but things that I just make ultimate in my life. And Jesus redirects us from the lesser things we keep asking to give us life towards him, the One who actually is life. And Jesus says, come. But Jesus doesn't just say come. He adds a layer to this notice every week. We've been seeing that, the invitation itself, that there is something different to it, that Jesus says, come, but now he says, and drink.
Come to me.
[00:27:23] Speaker B: And then he says, drink.
[00:27:25] Speaker A: Notice, Jesus isn't implying come and admire the water.
He didn't say, come and admire the water. No, he says, come and drink, which means receive what I can give. And that just truly means to entrust yourself to Jesus, to be the One,
[00:27:43] Speaker B: as the giver of life.
As the giver of life.
[00:27:50] Speaker A: Think about this.
When you and I, when we don't feel well, when we don't, when we get sick, or when something seems off, our brains automatically think, okay, I need to go to the doctor.
So what do we do? We make an appointment, right? We go to the doctor.
Right. We tell them what's wrong, they give us treatment, and then we return back to normal life. Right? We return back to normal life. And what's interesting is that sometimes for me, and I can't speak for you, but for me, I can treat Jesus in the same light that I can treat God in the same light, right? And this invitation that Jesus offers to us, Jesus didn't say that he is the place you visit only when you need relief.
And just to return to normal life.
Jesus isn't saying that when everything else doesn't satisfy, you just come to me.
Right? Right. Jesus isn't saying any of that. But what he's actually saying, and this is so true and so fundamental and
[00:28:54] Speaker B: so,
[00:28:56] Speaker A: so key for the context of this whole entire verse or this chapter that he's saying all of this, is that Jesus is the source.
[00:29:06] Speaker B: You were never meant to live disconnected from
[00:29:11] Speaker A: that Jesus.
He is the source that you were never meant to live disconnected from. He is the source, the giver of life.
And not only is he the giver of life, we are meant to be ones who remain connected, rooted next to, established in the One who gives life.
[00:29:35] Speaker B: Because Jesus is the source, you were never meant to live disconnected from, disconnected from.
He invites the unsatisfied.
Come and receive from me.
And as you receive from me, your soul will find what it's been actually longing for.
Because within every human soul, Christian, non Christian, believer, agnostic, no matter where they are, everybody desires the divine.
And Jesus says, guess what?
That desire Is me.
Is me.
The problem is, as we stated before
[00:30:29] Speaker A: and as we stated over and over
[00:30:31] Speaker B: before in the past, is that sometimes we try to find Jesus elsewhere instead of going to the Source itself.
Instead of going to the Source itself.
And Jesus says, I am the source.
You were never meant to live.
Disconnected from.
From.
[00:30:56] Speaker A: So Jesus goes on.
[00:30:57] Speaker B: He says, come, Come and come and drink.
[00:31:00] Speaker A: And then he continues on. And he says this in verse 38, that's pretty powerful. He says that. That whoever believes in me, as the Scriptures have said, streams of living water will flow from within him. Now he was speaking about the Spirit whom those would.
Those who believe in him would later receive. For the Spirit had not been given because Jesus had not been glorified. All right, here's what Jesus does in this passage.
[00:31:29] Speaker B: And this is what's so wonderful. This is what just makes this passage so powerful.
[00:31:33] Speaker A: Jesus doesn't just say, hey, I'm just one who just.
[00:31:37] Speaker B: Who just makes you feel happy.
No, no. There is something about Jesus that as you come to him, the source that gives you life, something in you begins to change.
Because the more I am satisfied with Christ, the more I am transformed by Christ.
I just made that up. By the way, it wasn't in my notes. I don't know why somebody write that
[00:32:12] Speaker A: down, because I forgot it already.
The more satisfied I am in Christ,
[00:32:17] Speaker B: the more I am transformed by Christ. See, you know what Jesus doesn't say?
[00:32:22] Speaker A: Come to just experience joy and peace.
[00:32:25] Speaker B: No.
[00:32:25] Speaker A: Let joy and peace be a reality
[00:32:27] Speaker B: that shows up in your life.
[00:32:30] Speaker A: Not just an emotion, not just a feeling.
[00:32:34] Speaker B: But now it becomes a way of living.
[00:32:37] Speaker A: Now it becomes a way of living. And Jesus, he brings in the Holy Spirit, the Spirit himself. The Spirit is not a force. It's not a wind.
It's a he, a person.
And Jesus says, those who believe in me, meaning those who call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Those who come before Christ and say, I believe that you died. I believe that you rose. I believe that you give life, and I'm coming to you. Those who believe in him receive the Spirit. And the Spirit is the indwelling presence of God within every believer. And what's the job of the Spirit?
His job is to make the life of God a reality in your soul. But notice, Jesus says something fundamentally important.
He says, the Spirit doesn't just. It's not just something we receive.
[00:33:29] Speaker B: It begins to do something that flows outwardly.
[00:33:33] Speaker A: Because the Spirit brings the life of God into you so that the life of God can begin flowing through you.
Does that make sense, friends, I do not simply just experience peace, joy and contentment and hope from God, but by the Spirit. Those realities begin to show up in the way that I live. His peace begins to reshape how I respond when I'm anxious, how I respond when I'm fearful.
Not that anxiety and fear disappear, but because I have been so satisfied in the One who gives true satisfaction. I don't allow anxiety or fear to become dominant in my life.
[00:34:15] Speaker B: Why? Because I am truly, truly immersed in the One who gives life. Therefore, the One who gives life begins to transform my life.
And how I face moments like that,
[00:34:29] Speaker A: his joy, it begins to show up. And how I walk through difficulty, not that difficulty disappears again. Jesus is not inviting us into a life where difficulty will never, will never pop up or never show up. It's just that difficulty itself will not
[00:34:46] Speaker B: have mastery over my soul, over the
[00:34:50] Speaker A: way that I think.
[00:34:51] Speaker B: Why? Because I am so, so, so connected to the One who gives me life.
Notice Jesus language in this because he
[00:35:05] Speaker A: can't treat Jesus anymore as just come to him when you don't feel good.
[00:35:11] Speaker B: No, go to Jesus, because He is the Source. And apart from him, you cannot possess true life at all, true life at all.
[00:35:22] Speaker A: By the Spirit, those realities begin to show up in the way that I live. His hope, his joy, his peace, his contentment, his grace, it shows up in my life.
[00:35:34] Speaker B: The life Jesus gives begins to flow out of me.
Out of me.
Not just to experience peace, but become a person of peace.
Not just to experience joy, but to produce the fruit of joy, not just
[00:35:58] Speaker A: to experience his love.
I love the love of God. I.
[00:36:02] Speaker B: But now I need the love of God to show up in my life and how the way that I live.
CS Lewis said a quote that I thought was just remarkable in the book Mere Christianity. C.S. lewis, probably one of the most famous Christian authors of all time, he said this wonderful quote, and I thought, man, how, how amazing and how beautiful this is for us.
[00:36:35] Speaker A: He says, if you want to get warm, you must stand near the fire.
If you want to get wet, you must get into the water.
He says, if you want joy, power,
[00:36:50] Speaker B: peace and eternal life, you must get close to the thing that has them.
How powerful is that?
We must get close to the thing that has them.
Right?
[00:37:09] Speaker A: If you want to get warm, you
[00:37:10] Speaker B: get near the fire.
[00:37:13] Speaker A: If you want to get wet, you
[00:37:14] Speaker B: get into the water.
And if you want joy, peace continues, contentment, power and eternal life, you must go to the One who has them.
Let's go to the One who has Them.
But I love that Jesus says in this passage that whoever believes.
Whoever believes.
Who or what has your greatest trust today has your greatest trust.
[00:37:56] Speaker A: Who has your greatest trust?
[00:37:59] Speaker B: Who holds your confidence in life?
[00:38:03] Speaker A: Who. Who is the one or what is the thing that you said above all?
[00:38:08] Speaker B: I have to be connected or I have to know, or I have to be.
And I can't live without this.
See, these invitations are again a reminder, a continuous reminder for us.
We can do nothing apart from God.
We can do nothing apart. Apart from Him.
[00:38:40] Speaker A: So I ask, and I. And, and I don't know where you
[00:38:42] Speaker B: are in your faith. Maybe today is the day where this is your first time saying, lord, I trust you.
I believe in you.
Maybe, maybe you're the person like myself, where you hear the Spirit himself redirecting you back to the source of life, saying, put your trust in the one who gives life, who gives you life.
I fundamentally believe that this passage begins with who you trust, who do you trust?
What do you say to yourself, I cannot exist without this.
And if that's you today, Christ is calling you to put your belief and trust in him, to put your total confidence in him.
[00:39:45] Speaker A: Not just someone who can make you
[00:39:46] Speaker B: happy, but someone who's going to give you real life.
A life you cannot produce on your own.
A life you cannot produce on your own. That's what the thirsty are. There are people who can't produce the needs of their own soul on their own.
So they go to one who says, trust me.
Believe in me.
And who is that for you today?
Pray.
[00:40:22] Speaker A: Dear Father, I pray that today we would call upon the name of the
[00:40:29] Speaker B: Lord Jesus Christ in faith, that every
[00:40:33] Speaker A: knee will bow and every tongue will
[00:40:35] Speaker B: confess that you are Lord, that you
[00:40:38] Speaker A: are the source of life.
[00:40:41] Speaker B: And apart from you, we can do nothing.
[00:40:45] Speaker A: We need you not just when life is hard.
We need you to give direction.
We need you to
[00:40:55] Speaker B: bring hope.
[00:40:56] Speaker A: We need you so that we can walk in truth.
So, Lord, I pray that people like us will be honest enough to say I cannot exist.
[00:41:10] Speaker B: My soul cannot produce what it needs apart from the one who created me.
[00:41:19] Speaker A: And I pray today, Lord, we just
[00:41:20] Speaker B: say, lord, I trust you.
I trust you. Right now.
[00:41:29] Speaker A: I believe that I was created for you.
I was created by you to walk
[00:41:36] Speaker B: with you and to know you fully.
So help us, I pray.
Bless us, I pray.
And Lord, when we're tempted to draw from empty and broken cisterns, I pray that your spirit can lead us back to the one who actually is the living water.
[00:42:04] Speaker A: Pray that your spirit would remind us once again.
[00:42:08] Speaker B: We were never meant to live disconnected from the source.
So would you please bless us and help us say your son's perfect and
[00:42:19] Speaker A: wonderful name is who we pray.
[00:42:21] Speaker B: Amen.
